Onward announces board appointments

Cadent chief information officer Kate Jones and former Lancaster City Council chief executive Kieran Keane have joined the housing association’s board as non-executive directors.

At Cadent, Jones is helping with the delivery of the company’s sustainable gas strategy. She has worked with Cadent for five years and, prior to that, was with the National Grid.

Keane retired from his post as chief executive with Lancaster City Council last month. He is a qualified accountant and previously worked as group executive director for corporate services with developer Places for People Group.

The chair of Onward’s board, Tim Johnston, shared how Jones and Keane can help the association meet its goals.

“Onward is looking to the future with these senior appointments as we build on our successful bond issue and deliver on our strategic partnership with Homes England,” he said.

“Kate and Kieran bring a terrific mix of experience and fresh perspectives in areas such as data, finance and technology,” he continued. “They will strengthen us at an important time as we focus on delivering results for customers and defining our new corporate plan.”

Onward owns and manages around 35,000 homes in the North West. It aims to grow that number by building 5,000 new homes by 2030. Onward plans to invest £600m to achieve that goal.
