Olsson enters Manchester market with Ancoats office
Fire and risk consultancy Olsson has opened its first office in Manchester, at Jactin House.
Olsson, an Australian company, launched in the UK earlier this year, following the recruitment of former AECOM directors Simon Lay and Sam Liptrott.
Lay will be leading the Manchester office, to provide fire engineering and risk assessment consultancy to developers, contractors and architects.
There will be seven people based in Manchester, all of which previously worked at AECOM.
Lay is the only UK-based advisor on the Council on Tall Buildings & Urban Habitat, and has recently written a research paper on sustainable buildings which he said informed the company’s decision to take space in Jactin House.
He said: “It seemed wholly appropriate that we pick a new home which reflected the sustainability we advocate for clients. Add to that the high quality of the fit-out, the flexibility of the space which will allow us to grow, plus the convenience of the location and it was the perfect choice for us.”
“In the few weeks we’ve been operating in the UK we’ve already recruited six people and won work as far north as Scotland and as south as London. Our overseas projects now includes schemes in Mumbai and Luanda with more in the pipeline. It’s great to look forward to the event in China and the opportunity to share our expertise on a global stage. I’m delighted at what we’ve achieved so far.”
