NWDA/ERDF fund three-year renewables drive

Specialist consultancy Envirolink Northwest has been selected to manage a £2.3m low carbon market development programme for the NWDA.

The programme has been established with £1m from the European Regional Development Fund and £1.3m from the North West Development Agency.

The NWDA says the project will create 43 jobs, assist 185 businesses, lever £1.8m in private sector investment and save 2 million tonnes of C02 over three years.

Envirolink will be charged with providing technical support to firms in the renewable energy market across the region with regard to planning, finance and network connection.

The programme will provide advocacy and support services for renewable technologies that have been identified as having substantial opportunities in the Northwest, in particular onshore / offshore wind; microgeneration and small scale renewables and energy from waste.
