Nuffield names director for £60m scheme
Nuffield Health has appointed Barbara Baker as market director to oversee the development of the former Elizabeth Gaskell campus into a hospital and rehabilitation centre.
Baker's remit will include appointing architects and contractors for the £60m scheme, as well as developing an integrated wellbeing programme to improve health outcomes.
Baker is currently hospital director at Nuffield Health's Derby hospital and will take up the market director role on 1 January 2015.
Nuffield Health purchased the Elizabeth Gaskell campus complex from Manchester Metropolitan University in July, and took possession of the site in September. The 5-acre site will provide scope for a wide range of facilities in the hospital, including rehabilitation and preventative health services.
Final designs for the hospital facilities are being developed and Nuffield Health expects to submit plans to Manchester City Council for approval in spring 2015.
