Northwich garden centre to double in size after unanimous approval

Cheshire West and Chester Council has green-lit the demolition of Weaver Vale Garden Centre and the construction of its 107,300 sq ft replacement.

The centre’s owner, Klondyke Strikes Garden Centres, purchased Weaver Vale more than 20 years ago and had prepared an application for its extension before it was scuppered by the pandemic in 2020.

Now, with the council’s permission, the existing 51,400 sq ft garden centre off Winnington Lane in Northwich will be cleared, and its replacement will be double its size.

The shop floor will increase from 22,000 sq ft to 48,900 sq ft, while the outdoor sales space will add up to a further 53,400 sq ft.

Plans include expanding the café to 5,000 sq ft and erecting a 7,300 sq ft external warehouse.

A total of 361 parking spaces will be provided, including 19 for those who are disabled, 17 parent and child, and four electric vehicle charging points.

i-Transport, Fairhurst, Nurture Landscapes, and RammSanderson all worked on the application.
