Northern Group acquires office on Manchester’s King Street
The investor has snapped up the 41,400 sq ft 76 King Street, which last traded in 2018 for more than £18m.
Northern Group bought the building from HPPUT, part of the Daily Mail & General Trust pension scheme.
Now, Northern Group plans to install its sister company, flex workspace provider Colony, within 11,000 sq ft of basement and ground floor space within the grade two-listed building.
Fashion brands DKNY and Belstaff have recently moved out of the building to make way for Colony, which is expected to open early next year. The upper floors of the building are fully let.
“This is a special building, instantly recognisable to many Mancunians,” said Northern Group chief operating officer Paul Dobbs.
“Its intricate, listed architecture and superb location aligns with our ethos to create, retain and operate outstanding spaces to work and live in vibrant parts of the city.”
Gerald Eve represented HPPUT on the acquisition.
The deal is Northern Group’s second in Manchester city centre in recent months after the company bought the 36,500 sq ft 19 Spring Gardens in June.
