North West civils outfit eyes £50m turnover following senior hire

PAS NW has bought construction consultancy Fredex, installed its founder as managing director, and is looking to increase turnover by £16m in the next five years.

As part of the five-year share purchase deal, Warrington-based PAS NW has brought Fredex founder Fraser Linaker on board as managing director.

Linaker, who was previously MD of Duchy Homes North West, had been working as a consultant for PAS. The acquisition of his firm by PAS now means that that arrangement has been formalised.

Paul Sumner, owner of PAS NW, said: “Our goal is to achieve £50m in turnover within the next five years, and this requires outstanding talent.

“Over the past year, Fraser has demonstrated the leadership qualities I was looking for – someone with extensive experience in housebuilding at the highest level.”

PAS, founded in 2009, counts Bellway, Vistry, and Redrow among its clients. The firm has provided ground and civils work on various North West schemes including Vistry’s 600-home Partington masterplan, and Lydiate in Liverpool for Bellway.

With Linaker at the helm, PAS is now looking to grow its order book and increase turnover from £34m annually to £50m.

The company is also hoping to add fresh blood. PAS currently employs 220 staff and is planning to add commercial and operations directors in the coming weeks.

“This company is on an upward trajectory. We have a relentless commitment to making PAS NW the leading civil engineering firm in the North West,” Linaker said.

“Our initial successes are promising, but we will not become complacent. We are committed to continuous improvement across all facets of the business, particularly in health and safety, quality, and on-site delivery.”
