North Star takes over An Outlet

Town Centre Securities has let the ground floor café at Carver's Warehouse on the edge of Manchester's Northern Quarter and Piccadilly areas to North Star Delicatessen.

North Star has operated a similar outlet in Chorlton in South Manchester for nine years. The café previously traded as An Outlet and was popular with the design and marketing tenants in Carver's Warehouse, but it ultimately fell into administration.

The new operation, to be called North Star Piccadilly, will open on Monday 5 December. North Star said it will design a menu in consultation with Carver's Warehouse tenants who include Marketing Manchester, Martin Stockley Associates, Four23, Harris Partnership, BWB Consulting and G-Star Raw. They also want to extend their offer to serve local residents, commuters using nearby Piccadilly Station and people who work in the Piccadilly and Northern Quarter areas of the city centre.

The trendy meeting place went through several incarnations; operated by Love Saves The Day before it went under and latterly by Carver's tenant, Four23, a design agency.

Richard Lewis, property director at Town Centre Securities, said: "We were very keen to find an independent business with a good track record of running a successful, quality café, so we're delighted to welcome North Star, who offer exactly what we were looking for. North Star really understands what the Carver's tenants want and aims to deliver a vibrant and sustainable food outlet, offering good quality food and drink at reasonable prices."

Deanna Thomas, co-founder of North Star, said: "Coffee and tea remains the foundation stone of any good café and we aim to provide the best brew in the area. We also pride ourselves on our homemade soups, sandwiches and cakes which can be eaten in, taken away or made to order for corporate events and special occasions. We're keen to team up with local producers and suppliers to bring locally sourced, well cooked food to this part of the city centre."

Adam Berlyne, co-owner of North Star, added: "The building's stunning glazed atrium next door lends itself perfectly for events and we hope to run a calendar of foodie evenings and wine tastings which we hope will become as popular as our Chorlton supper club."

Letting agents on Carver's Warehouse are Lambert Smith Hampton and Daniel Harris & Co.
