Zurich consolidates in city centre

Zurich Private Clients, the wealthy client division of Zurich UK's insurance business, has relocated from Wilmslow to Manchester city centre.

The division will share offices at Bruntwood's Norfolk House on Norfolk Street with existing tenant Zurich Insurance's regional office. No extra space has been leased for the move.

The move doubles the number of Zurich employees in the centre of Manchester to 120. Zurich was based in Orbit's Sandfield House in Wilmslow.

Richard Smith, Zurich UK's head of broker market North West, said: "Zurich is fully committed to the Manchester business and insurance community and this move presents a great opportunity to increase our presence in the heart of this vibrant business district. Manchester's strong public transport network also played a key role in overcoming the challenges of the move."

The move is supported by Midas, Manchester's Investment and Development Agency. Tim Newns, deputy chief executive of Midas, said: "Manchester city centre already has one of the most respected insurance business communities in the UK and this consolidation by Zurich will further strengthen the city's offer in the sector."
