The construction of 52 homes, set for the shared ownership and private rental markets, has started in Wythenshawe.
Being built on Amberley Drive by Your Housing Group, the homes will be made up of two and three bedroom detached and semi-detached houses. Sixteen properties will be available for shared ownership and the remaining 36 will be available for rent via Nuvu Living, Your Housing Group’s PRS brand.
Called Amberley Square, the £7.3m scheme is part–funded through the Homes England’s shared ownership and affordable homes programme.
The project was designed by Manchester architect MHA, and is being built and delivered by energy and regeneration company Engie.
Lorraine Donnelly, director of development for Your Housing Group said: “We recognise that there is a lot of demand for new homes in this part of the city. Amberley Square is designed with the first-time buyer in mind and will offer a range of properties to suit both couples and growing families.”
With its proximity to Manchester Airport, Wythenshawe hospital and a number of high schools and academies, Wythenshawe is an area of south Manchester that’s growing in popularity.
The first homes are scheduled to be completed by December and the whole scheme is planned to be finished by next May.
Mosaic Town Planning advised on the project.
