WYG snaps up sports and leisure consultant

The consultant has acquired Lymm-based specialist sports and leisure planner Neil Allen Associates with the company’s associates – Neil Allen, Carolyn Wilkinson, and David Payne – joining WYG.

Established in 2007 by Neil Allen and based in Lymm, NAA specialises in strategic planning, management, and development for sports and leisure facilities including playing pitch and sports facilities strategies, as well as sports needs assessments.

The company works with local authorities, sports governing bodies, education providers and private sector companies, and its clients include Sport England. In a deal running to 2021, the company delivers a facilities planning model for the sports body, and this will be now taken on by WYG as part of the deal.

Other clients NAA has worked with include Cheshire West & Chester Council; Accrington Academy; Persimmon Homes; and Salford City Council.

Neil Allen said: “The former NAA team is extremely excited by the possibilities and significant growth potential we can achieve as part of WYG.

“This is a promising next stage of development and we are looking forward to becoming part of the extensive planning and transport business at WYG. We also want to assure clients that there will be no impact on current activities, with business continuing as usual.”

Tim Holden, director of transport and planning at WYG added: “We are delighted that Neil and his team have joined the business and look forward to learning from his expertise in this market, while providing support that will ensure his team realise the growth potential this move brings.”
