WYG joins Laing on £100m Cumbria hospital

Consultant White Young Green has been appointed by Laing O'Rourke Construction to carry out ground investigation works for the redevelopment of West Cumberland Hospital, near Whitehaven.

The redevelopment of the Hensingham site, by the North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust, will be the biggest single investment into healthcare for West Cumbria in over 50 years.

David Crichton-Miller, managing director of WYG Environment Planning Transport, said: "The project team's site activities are taking place whilst the very busy hospital is operating as normal – so minimising the impact of our works to hospital users is vital."

The ground investigation works will be completed in early 2010, with the main building works due to start in April 2010.
