Wrexham Glyndŵr University has put a seven-acre site at its Plas Coch campus up for sale with planning permission for up to 401 apartments as it progresses a wider overhaul of its campus.
Advised by Narvo Asset Management and Day Architectural, the university secured permission for the site from Wrexham Council earlier this month as part of a wider campus regeneration strategy, which includes a major redevelopment of its plot in the centre of Wrexham and the addition of several new buildings, including an engineering centre.
The seven-acre residential site is currently home to redundant student halls which will be knocked down to clear the plot for development. The outline permission includes three five-storey blocks and five four-storey blocks.
Legat Owen has been appointed to market the site to potential developers and will begin inviting offers in September.
Legat Owen director Stephen Wade said: “This is a significant instruction by Wrexham Glyndŵr University; Wrexham has a severe shortage of land with planning permission for residential development and we know that where development has taken place there is a pent-up demand for new housing. We are confident that this site will attract strong demand from both regional and national house builders.”
