Worker dies on Redrow site

The house builder said it was co-operating with Merseyside Police and the Health & Safety Executive as they jointly investigated the circumstances surrounding the death of a worker last week on a construction site in Knowsley.

The man, reported locally to be in his late 60s, was allegedly struck by a vehicle on site on Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Steve Greenhalgh, regional director of Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: "It was with great sadness I learned of this tragic incident at our construction site in Thingwall Lane, Liverpool. Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the man, who was working on our site as a sub-contractor. The incident remains the subject of investigation by the relevant authorities, including the Health & Safety Executive, with whom we are cooperating. We cannot comment on the circumstances at this stage pending the outcome of those investigations."

A spokesman for HSE said the joint investigation, led by Merseyside Police is ongoing.

Summerhill Park in Roby is a development of 525 homes.
