Work set to start on Forest of Bowland houses

The next phase of the £19m Kirk Mill scheme in Chipping, Ribble Valley, is due to start on site in the coming weeks, delivering 39 homes including seven bungalows for the elderly.

The homes have been granted detailed planning consent by Ribble Valley Council, and form the second stage of SCP Investment’s Kirk Mill masterplan, which received outline consent on appeal in 2016 to convert the 18th Century Arkwright-style mill on the site into a spa hotel, restaurant and other village amenities. Phase one has seen the restoration of the grade two-listed mill, with full re-roofing, structural work, cleaning and re-pointing of all elevations.

A joint venture between SCP and Ascalon Properties has been established to deliver the 4.4-acre project at Church Raike.

An ECB approved pitch, pavilion and car park opened for the start of the season in summer 2017 and is the home of Chipping Cricket Club as well as being available to both local primary schools and other local educational establishments.

How Planning advised SCP on the outline application.

The site is one of a few new housing schemes that have been allowed within the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
