Winterhill Largo acquires David Currie

Blackburn-based asset recovery and insolvency support group Winterhill Largo has acquired chartered surveyors and real estate consultancy practice, David Currie & Co, for an undisclosed sum.

Winterhill Largo, which also has offices in Wakefield and London, specialises in working for banks, insolvency practitioners and asset based lenders.

The company said it has seen increasing demand for its specialist services during the recession and the addition of the property expertise of David Currie & Co will complement the group's existing business.

David Currie & Co will continue to trade under its existing name, and all nine staff at its offices in Manchester and Liverpool will become part of Winterhill's 60-strong team.

Neil Duckworth, chief executive of Winterhill Largo, said: "The acquisition of David Currie & Co is an important step towards our aim of becoming the leading provider of asset valuation, disposal and recovery services to financial institutions and insolvency practitioners in the UK and overseas.

"The acquisition significantly strengthens our real estate services capability as well as increasing our geographical reach with the addition of two new offices in the North West."

David Currie & Co provides property valuation and disposal services to banks and insolvency practitioners throughout the UK and also acts as Law of Property Act Receivers.

Winterhill Largo was founded in 2010 by the merger of specialist plant, machinery and property valuation and disposal firm Winterhill with Largo, a pre-legal receivables debt collection and management business.

The group now operates from offices in Blackburn, London, Wakefield, Manchester and Liverpool.
