Wincham waste plant proposals submitted

Resource Recovery Solutions has submitted its planning application to build a gasification plant in New Cheshire Business Park on Wincham Lane.

Its proposals include treating up to 187,000 tonnes of household waste from across the county each year.

Resource Recovery Solutions is going head-to-head with Viridor for the 25-year waste contract, which submitted its application for a waste plant in Lostock to Cheshire West and Chester Council last month.

Each application will now be considered in its own right, but only if it is approved can it continue to the final stage of the bidding process.

Around 200 residents attended four public information days in and around Wincham, which were held by Resource Recovery Solutions in the run-up to its submission.

Cheshire West and Chester Council will now undertake formal consultation on the planning application ahead of determination.

It is hoped that a decision will be made on the application in spring next year.
