Wilson Bowden finishes Warrington food store

Wilson Bowden Developments has completed construction of a 40,000 sq ft Sainsbury's store in Chapelford, Warrington.

The £4m store was designed by architects BDP as part of the new village centre in Chapelford, on the former RAF Burtonwood air base site.

The food store was built by Caddick Construction and includes a cafe in the south east corner of the store.

Mark Slocombe, project architect at BDP's Manchester studio, said: "I have been involved with the Chapelford project since its inception three years ago, working with other BDP urbanists and architects to produce the master plan. It is therefore very satisfying to see the completion of the new Sainsbury's store, which is now open for business and trading well.

"Work is now underway for the remainder of the project, which includes the creation of a new primary school, a health centre and a public park – the future of Chapelford looks great."
