Wilmslow care home sells for £1.3m

A former care home off Adlington Road in Wilmslow has been sold for £1.3m with the site now set to be redeveloped for residential use.

The site has been bought by a private developer on an unconditional basis, and is now likely to redeveloped for housing. Previous plans by Jones Homes to knock down the 6,100 sq f t care home and replace it with a three-storey, 14-apartment scheme were unanimously refused by Cheshire East Council in March last year.

The site is around a mile from Wilmslow railway station and is bordered by a mix of large detached homes and low-rise apartments.

Avison Young acted on the deal. Sholom Cohen from the company said: “Development opportunities like the one presented at Hillside arise rarely in the current market, so we were confident we would achieve a premium price deserving of such a site.

“It is a fantastic semi-rural location and we expect high-quality redevelopment plans to come forward in due course giving the site a new lease of life.”
