Willmott Dixon selected for sports centre

Oldham-based Willmott Dixon Construction has been awarded an £11.5m contract to build a new leisure centre for Rochdale Council in the town centre.

The council plans to redevelop part of a large Entwistle Road site near the River Roch that currently contains a leisure centre and council depot alongside a waste transfer station and land reserved for housing.

The new leisure facility will include a 25m swimming pool, gym, sports hall and community facilities.

Willmott Dixon will oversee the design and construction of the facility with associated external works. The project has outline planning consent and will go for detailed consent shortly.
