Wilde Consulting expands with 13 hires

The Stockport-based civil, structural, rail and transport consultancy has made a string of appointments as it grows its operations despite the pandemic, and in particular has scooped up three former employees of now-defunct rival Atkinson Peck.

Engineering consultancy Atkinson Peck, which was also based in Stockport and had been established since 1973, went into administration in July.

Wilde Consulting Engineers has appointed three former Atkinson employees – Nathan Gill and Kevin Marshall who join as associate directors, and Troy Whittle, who joins as a senior technician. They had worked at Atkinson for many years prior to their move.

Wilde has also hired two assistant engineers – Thomas Dowell and Shoaib Ahmed – and two graduate engineers, Luis North and Jacob Briers. The other six new members of staff are: Eduardo Ferreira as senior structural engineer; Jack Wall as CAD technician; Jade Crossland as senior technician; Roman Jivkov as associate director; Ikram Rabbani as business development director, and Joe Firth as graduate structural engineer.

The hires were made to support recent project wins in the rail, building structures and infrastructure markets teams, as the company prepares for further growth, it said.

Wilde now hires more than 100 staff across the North West and beyond, and is in the process of recruiting five more staff for its highways and drainage teams.

Managing director Shaun Tickle said: “We are working on exciting projects across the region and continue to grow. The company has been appointed to 30 public sector framework contracts and is working on several high-profile housing development schemes.

“We are also assisting several local authorities in undertaking feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs for an ambitious programme of cycling and walking improvement schemes across Greater Manchester.”

Outside the region, Wilde is advising on various projects for Network Rail, including works at Birmingham New Street and London Euston stations, and a variety of university and development projects from its Westminster office.

In January, the firm promoted Matthew Goble to the role of director and head of Wilde’s  Warrington office.
