Wigan selects education construction partners

Wigan Council has published the construction framework covering projects in the education sector across the borough for the next four years, with 10 North West contractors successful in making the list of providers for projects worth between £250,000 and £1m.

Three Preston firms, Carefoot, Warden Construction and John Turner Construction Group, have made the framework, along with F Parkinson of Blackpool, Aspect Construction, based in Sutton Weaver, Warrington’s Harry Fairclough Construction, Whitfield & Brown of Widnes and Truline Construction & Interior Services, based in Wigan. Eric Wright Construction and Ince-based Link Contracting Services are the companies that make up the list.

Colin Carefoot, managing director of Carefoot, said: “It’s great to be working with Wigan Council again, I am delighted that the council recognise our company’s ethos and the skills of our employees.”

Carefoot said that it has developed a Wigan Social Value Charter for the framework, including careers advice and work experience for adults getting back into work and apprenticeships run with the Construction Industry Training Board.
