Whittaker spends further £4.3m on Intu shares

Peel chairman John Whittaker has continued his spending spree with the acquisition of a further £4.37m of shares in Trafford Centre owner Intu Properties.

Over 27 and 28 March Whittaker purchased 1.4m shares at prices between 308p and 310p. He now has a 20.15% stake in Intu, which would increase to 24.11% if bonds were included.

The investment means that Whittaker has spent a total of £12.67m on Intu shares in the last two weeks, having already acquired 2.7m shares between 20 March and 25 March.

Peel sold the Trafford Centre to Capital Shopping Centres in November 2010 for £75m and a 19.9% stake.
