Whittaker builds CSC stake

Trafford Centre exteriorThe chairman of Peel Group, John Whittaker, has resumed his buying spree in Capital Shopping Centres, with a further £155,000 splashed on 50,000 shares last Thursday.

The latest acquisition brings his shareholding, through a variety of his companies, to 24.57% including 4% held in bonds to be converted later.

Earlier this week, CSC (LON:CSCG ) said it had agreed to acquire a 75% stake in the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre in Nottingham from Westfield, which would take its portfolio to 15 shopping centres across the UK.

CSC bought the Trafford Centre, pictured, from Peel in January 2011. Whittaker then became deputy chairman of CSC and later, Mike Butterworth, boss of the Trafford Centre, was appointed chief operating officer of CSC.
