Whittaker adds to CSC shareholding

Peel Group chairman John Whittaker has spent £36,000 on Capital Shopping Centres shares, continuing the pattern of steadily building his stake that he set in 2011.

Whittaker bought 10,765 shares at 339p in two transactions last week through a couple of companies operating in his own private interest rather than Peel Group's, the official notification to the stockmarket said.

CSC acquired the Trafford Centre from Peel in January 2011 in a share deal that saw Peel receive a 23% stake in the mall owner.

Whittaker became deputy chairman of CSC following the deal and has since built his and Peel's stake to more than 24.5%. CSC is valued at £2.9bn, valuing the Peel/Whittaker stake at £710m.
