Westchurch plots 88 Bolton homes

The housebuilder wants to build on a site owned by amateur football club Bolton Wyresdale, which is relocating within the Breightmet neighbourhood.

Advised by planner Lichfields, Westchurch Homes has now filed plans for 88 homes, broken down as 14 two-bedroom houses, 61 three-bedroom houses, and 13 four-bedroom houses.

All the homes are to be classed as affordable, to be owned and operated by a registered provider.

The five-acre site, accessed off Inverbeg Drive, houses two pitches, some hardstanding and a clubhouse. The club’s new base will have four better quality pitches and enhanced facilities, Lichfields said.

The consultancy also outlines in its planning statement a range of other sports pitches in the area, and said that pre-application discussions with the council suggest the site is viewed favourably for housing.

Sloping gradually, the proposed development site is surrounded on three sides by housing, with a primary school on the other side. The masterplan indicates a simple spine road through the site, with cul-de-sacs radiating.to the sides.

The professional team also includes landscape consultancy Trevor Bridge Associates, consulting engineer Betts Geo, transport advisor Tetra Tech, RJP Surveying and flood risk consultancy Waterco.

Based in Altrincham, Westchurch also has schemes in Nantwich, Chorley and Preston, along with a further Bolton scheme at Lostock Hall Gardens.
