Welcome to the Ideal Home Show Manchester
Peel has signed a deal with event organiser Media 10 to replicate the Ideal Home Show at Event City, next to the Intu Trafford Centre, in June and November 2014.
Media 10 will hold the Ideal Home Show Manchester from 6 to 8 June and the Ideal Home Show at Christmas between 21 and 23 November 2014.
The event company acquired the brand in 2009 and runs the show at London's Earls Court, which will continue next year. It expanded the show's schedule to include Christmas and Scotland versions.
The Ideal Home Show features 300 exhibitors and interactive demonstrations offering products and ideas for the home.
Set across 200,000 sq ft, the two new events at Event City are expected to attract 35,000 visitors each time and be the largest consumer exhibitions in the North West, the venue said.
Lee Newton, managing director of Media 10, said: "We are looking forward to bringing the Ideal Home Show to Event City in Manchester in 2014, with two fantastic events for the North West which will boost the consumer exhibitions market and provide visitors with a chance to experience the iconic show in Manchester for the first time. Media 10 continues to build on the success of the Ideal Home Show brand and we are proud to be able to bring this unique and award winning show to Manchester."
Ideal Home Show has welcomed 60 million visitors since it was first held in 1908, when it was organised by the Daily Mail.
Andy Orr, managing director of Event City, said: "I believe that Media 10 has set a benchmark with the quality and spectacle of their exhibitions, and when this is aligned with Event City's free car parking, superb transport infrastructure and customer-facing approach, the partnership will deliver a truly outstanding show. Securing these two iconic brands has further cemented Event City as the premiere exhibition centre in the North West."
Its still an old shed. A lick of paint and a new signboard can’t hide that I am afraid. It cannot possibly compete with GMEX and other central locations that are geared up for such events.

Went to that Tutankhamun exhibition here a couple of years back. Not a bad venue, not brilliant though. Just remembered, one of the exhibition stewards snapped at me for eating a biscuit on the way in. Daft bint.

Great news, I’ve seen clips of it in London but I’ve never been, it looks amazing. Event City is a great venue, you can’t argue with free car parking and just off the motorway, compared to GMEX’s £12 and gridlock. I’m being mean, GMEX is pretty but it should leave the more popular events to Event City it just can’t cope when it gets busy. Orrful – I think Media10 are probably going to make it look pretty – I’ve been to exhibitions before and that’s how they do it.
