Wates appoints regional business manager
Affordable housing contractor, Wates Living Space, has appointed Lee Sale as regional business manager to its senior team.
Sale has joined from Gleeson Regeneration, where he was business unit director.
He will now see oversee Wates' current North West portfolio of affordable housing works, including the £7m extra care development for Trafford Housing Trust, which will comprise 71 units.
Sale has over 20 years experience in the built environment, and previously worked on the transformation of Hulme Village into a mixed-tenure community.
He said: "Our team has an excellent track record in delivering the social housing needs of the region and this year will see us continue to hone our efficient operations to ensure customer satisfaction and value for money.
"We intend to maintain our role in the growth of the region's economy by ensuring that our building works bring with them a raft of training and employment opportunities for local people.
"Of course our industry is not without its challenges at present and last year it was reported that 1.8m households were on waiting lists for social housing [Barclays UK Social Housing, sector outlook – Third quarter 2012]. With demand so high there invariably needs to be a shift in focus to ensure that housing needs are met and we also intend to use our industry position to source innovative investment solutions to fund new build developments."
