Watch This Space wins townhouse consent

The developer has secured planning permission for the construction of two townhouses on Wood Street, close to Spinningfields in Manchester city centre.

The consent covers a pair of three-bedroom townhouses offering private garages and roof terraces. The project team includes Snook Architects and Iceni Projects, which advised on planning.

Watch This Space acquired the site, currently used for car parking, off-market in December 2016 as part of the £1m deal that saw it pick up the nearby 4,800 sq ft office at 62 Bridge Street.

Founder Michelle Rothwell said: “We’ve been striving to challenge the market and improve both the quality and size of the overall residential offer in the city centre.

“Over the last decade, this area of Manchester has totally transformed into a destination where professionals want to be. Having to commute every day should no longer be part and parcel of working in Manchester.

“There is only a handful of townhouses like this scheme within the city’s prime core and so by creating luxury houses we’re providing people with a real alternative, where professionals can work and live in the city without having to compromise.”

Work is due to start in the first quarter of 2018, with completion expected before year end.
