Waste firm expands in Middleton
Quorum has let a 56,000 sq ft industrial unit at Linkway Trading Estate to the Waste Exchange.
The Waste Exchange is a subsidiary of waste management company the White Group and has signed a 15-year lease to handle a recent contract win for the company.
Rob Taylor, associate at Knight Frank, letting agent for Quorum, said: "This letting is proof that larger deals are happening for all grades of property in the Greater Manchester area, and long leases can be secured if the location and premises are right.
"The Waste Exchange's requirement was for premises of 50,000 to 60,000 sq ft in size. Quorum's Middleton premises were available albeit they were held on a lease by Greencore who had vacated the premises. The building was a perfect fit for the company, as it met all their requirements and was located in an already established industrial area. By co-operating fully with each other, Quorum, Greencore and The Waste Exchange together with all their representatives were able to agree a surrender of the existing lease and the granting of a new one, together with the provision of additional power, all within four weeks."
Paul Cook of Quorum commented: "Despite the complexities of having an existing lease in place and needing to secure an increased power supply, this deal does demonstrate that lettings can still be concluded quickly when all parties work together and in the best interest of their clients."
The new tenant will now conduct an extensive refurbishment of the premises and fit out before beginning trading in August.
