Warrington’s £142m Time Square signs Parlour

The New York-inspired eatery has leased more than 3,800 sq ft of space within the mixed-use development.

Parlour is set to begin fit-out immediately. The restaurant will sell pizzas, burgers and salads. Beverage offerings include local beers, cocktails, wines, coffees, teas and smoothies. There will be live music and DJs as well.

“We’re going to bring a warm, welcoming, independent new venue to Time Square,” said James Wrigley, director at Parlour.

“Our concept is centred around a quality food and drink offering brought to the table with care and attention,” he continued.

“We’re creating a place for the community – from weekend get-togethers with friends, to working lunches and family celebrations. At Parlour, we’ll create an all-day community hub in the heart of this exciting new destination.”

The eatery is the first operator in 2022 to sign up for space at Time Square, which was delivered by Warrington & Co for Warrington Borough Council. Muse Developments is the development manager for the scheme. Other tenants include Cineworld Cinemas and The Botanist.

Leon Guyett, development director at Muse Developments, said the signing of Parlour to Times Square was “a proud achievement for all involved and is a great way to start the year”.

He continued: “We’re seeing that the retail and leisure sector continues to be dynamic and evolving, with independent and regional operators coming forward to expand in new regeneneration schemes that blend high-quality, innovative buildings, with both the area’s heritage and aspirations for the future.

“Working with our partners at Warrington Council, we’ve delivered a truly special scheme that’s a shining example of successful town centre repurposing that drives the local economy, local opportunities and prosperity for all.”

Warrington Council’s cabinet member for economic development and innovation, Cllr Tom Jennings, described the signing of Parlour as “yet another fantastic addition to the diverse Time Square offer, which continues to evolve and grow”.

“It’s very encouraging to see new businesses continuing to come on board at Time Square,” he continued. “It demonstrates the confidence businesses have in our vision to drive forward the renaissance of our town centre and build a bright economic future.”

Time Square sits by Academy Way in the heart of Warrington’s town centre. The project completed in 2020 and includes the five-storey Warrington Council offices and a 1,160-space car park. Vinci was the main contractor and Leach Rhodes Walker was the architect.

Metis Real Estate Advisors acted on behalf of Warrington & Co. and Muse Developments on the deal with Parlour, which was unrepresented.

Must admit I am concerned that the rising cost of living, energy in particular, is going to stunt people’s appetite for eating out when it too is a very noticeable rising bill. Pizzas and burgers for £16 at many of the regions food markets and eateries is going to require some adjustment by the vendors at some point if they are going to attract cash strapped consumers for something [not so] different.

Hearing great things about Parlour and it’s plans, I will be at the front of the line for a great New York Pizza slice.
