Walker Sime acquires WCP

The property consultant has snapped up Whitefield-based quantity surveyor and project manager WCP, which works with clients including Network Space.

The move will take Walker Sime’s headcount up to 91 across its offices in Manchester, Princes Dock in Liverpool, and Leeds, with WCP staff relocating to Walker Sime’s Trafford Park headquarters.

The group’s core services include quantity surveying, project management, dispute resolution, commercial management, CDM consultancy, and bills of quantities.

Clients WCP has worked form include Network Space and OnSide Youth Zones, while it also advised on Surf Snowdonia in Conwy.

Earlier this month, Walker Sime announced Duncan Firth had stepped up to become managing director of the property consultancy, with founders Des Walker and Jon Sime taking on new roles within the business.

Projects on the company’s books include Peel’s £5bn Liverpool Waters, Manchester’s Great Northern Warehouse, and Muse’s New Victoria.

Des Walker said: “We’re really pleased to get the deal done and to welcome some excellent new colleagues into the business. It’s great news for our clients, too, and will ensure that we continue to develop Walker Sime into one of the UK’s best independent property consultancies.”

WCP director Robert Seger added: “Walker Sime saw this as a tremendous long-term opportunity to capitalise on the wealth of experience and synergies of both businesses and we’re looking forward to joining the team of one of Manchester’s leading construction consultancies.

“There’s a really strong cultural fit and a great chemistry and this felt like the next logical step in our development.  Our clients will enjoy a greater depth of resource and additional services whilst our staff will benefit from a wider range of career opportunities.”

Pannone advised Walker Sime on the transaction while LLM acted for WCP.
