Wainhomes set for consent in Crewe after appeal

Plans by Wainhomes to build 44 homes on a four-acre site just off the A500 south of Crewe have been recommended for approval when Cheshire East’s southern planning committee next week.

The housebuilder’s plans for the site to the north of Shavington were initially refused in August 2016, but the housebuilder secured outline consent following an appeal early last year, and now its reserved matters application has now been backed by council planning officers.

The development includes a mix of homes, with six one-beds, eight two-beds, six three-beds, 21 four-beds, and three five-beds. Access to the site will be via Chestnut Road, and a two-storey house will be demolished to make way for the plans.

Apartments, plus one three-bed home, have been earmarked as affordable with nine units to be provided for affordable rent and four for intermediate tenure.

The professional team on the project includes Randall White Architects, WYG as highways consultant, and Emery Planning. Wainhomes is also currently developing a neighbouring site, Chatsworth Park, which includes 53 homes, and was also granted planning consent on appeal.

Cheshire East’s southern planning committee is due to meet on Wednesday 2 May.
