A Warrington-based developer has submitted a planning application for 525 homes in Salford, on the site of the derelict Wellington Hotel.
The £150m development, known as City View, will be made up of four blocks of 26, 16, 10 and eight storeys alongside 37 three-storey townhouses.
The scheme on Regent Road was first unveiled earlier this year by Vivere, which is the development arm of Bilt Group.
Targeted at investment buyers, the buildings will include concierge facilities, residents’ gym and lounge, and will be set around a central piazza. The apartments will have up to three bedrooms.
There will also be 150 parking spaces and 200 secure cycle spaces.
Indigo Planning is advising on the application.
Fletcher Rae’s joint managing director, Andrew Rae, said: “The form of the building responds directly to the vision of the site to create a viable and sustainable regeneration development in a strategic location on Regent Road. The development will link to existing community infrastructure and adjacent developments. This proposal is intended to repair the severed link that exists between these communities and developments and create a much needed activity node for movement between these key places in the city.
“The prominent corner at the junction between Regent Road and Oldfield Road responds to similar larger scale developments at the River Irwell and Manchester city centre to the east and those at Chapel Street and Ordsall Waterfront to the North and South. Lower scale elements of the proposal mediate between the low-rise community of Ordsall on the opposite side of Regent Road and the adjacent developments along Oldfield Road.”
Subject to planning approval work is due to commence in spring 2017.
