VIDEO | 178-home Atelier completes in Salford

The residential block is part of English Cities Fund’s larger £1bn Salford Central masterplan, which stretches across 50 acres.

Atelier is divided up into four seven-storey blocks. It has 167 apartments, which have between one and three bedrooms, as well as 11 three-bedroom townhouses. Designed by Buttress Architects, the scheme includes commercial space on the ground floor.

Eric Wright Construction built the structure, which sits between North Star Drive and Chapel Street in Salford and was delivered in partnership with Salford City Council.

Already, 50% of the apartments at Atelier are sold. JLL is the agent for the development.

ECF, which is a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General and Homes England, is also leading Salford’s £2.5bn Crescent masterplan. Both Salford Central and Crescent are geared towards providing new homes and public spaces to the city.

Atelier’s completion is a key part of that effort.

“We’re proud to reach this important milestone in the Salford Central story and we can’t wait to welcome people to their new homes,” said ECF senior development surveyor Max Bentham.

“What we’re creating here at Atelier and across both our Salford Central and Crescent masterplans respectively is a true 15-minute city,” Bentham continued. “A place that people are proud to call home; that’s diverse, vibrant and connected; has access to all the amenities needed to thrive and prosper and we feel we’re achieving this here in Salford.”

Salford City Council chief executive Tom Stannard said: “Salford Central is being transformed and I’m pleased to see it reach another milestone with the Atelier development, thanks to the great partnership we have here in the city.

“This new development adds to the mix of homes needed across Salford and I look forward to welcoming people into their new homes when they have settled in.”

Eric Wright Construction’s managing director John Hartnett said that the project was delivered safely, on time, on budget and to ECF’s standards.

“Not only have new residences been created for the people of Salford, but we were able to create 325 weeks of employment opportunities for local residents including apprenticeships, work opportunities and placements,” Hartnett said. “In addition, 75% of the workforce was employed from the local area and I’m sure they are just as proud as we are of Atelier, having helped to create quality homes, which will be enjoyed by future generations of Salfordians.”

Tidy scheme, good to see commercial units but not sure I’d buy a flat without a balcony. Might be alright to rent for 12 months or so.

Nice drone footage @ Place.

Nice scheme, anyone know what is going in the space just before and after the front building ?

Another fantastic scheme from ECF and Buttress. Shame they won’t be kept on to design future developments around Chapel Street.

Looks nice, the townhouse gardens are abit overlooked.

Pity about the constant stream of busy traffic on adjacent roads. All that pollution and noise can’t be healthy. Let’s hope there’s a big push to improve public transport and reduce car use.

Chapel Street has some great leisure offerings already with Porta and Vero Moderno, more of that on the ground floor please

Janet McKenna, you live in the city that’s expected. If public transport was reliable and affordable then people will ditch the car but clearly the council/ transport department cant get anything right these days. If you choose to live so close to the city the chances are you dont mind this.
Plus there is no balcony and small 2 beds apartment clearly not family oriented. Its all great building all these apartments where is the schools, hospital, GPs, pharmacy, green space?

Great location . Chapel Street in Salford is now a great place to live with lots of new appartments blocks. Also so close to Manchester city centre for work, entertainment and shopping.
