Venmore toasts strongest auction for years

Liverpool auctioneer, Venmore, achieved its best result for six years at the November sale, raising £2.65m selling 43 out of 56 lots.

The sale on 22 November attracted a large turnout in Liverpool Town Hall's chambers. There were 12 lots sold before the day, 23 properties selling as the gravel went down in the auction room and 11 post auction, with four more currently going through.

Geoff Guest, auction and commercial director at Venmore's Dale Street branch, said: "There was such an exciting buzz in the auction room with phone bidders, competitive buyers on the variety of lots on offer throughout the whole of Merseyside, Widnes, Runcorn and the Wirral, all signs that the market is improving."

A mixed-use property in Wavertree Road sold for £235,000, which was £60,000 over the set guide price of £175,000.

Rob Farnham, chief executive of Venmore Group, added: "As well as the long established local investors, this year we have seen a strong mix of new people to the market helping to push prices back up, particularly within the rental market where properties are showing extremely strong gross yields and are still some of the best that can be achieved in the country, making Liverpool more and more attractive to invest in."
