Venmore makes Town Hall debut

Venmore raised £1.7m in sales at the Liverpool Town Hall auction, which attracted more than 200 people to the firm's first auction held in the council chamber.

There were 39 lots on offer on Wednesday 15 February, Venmore first auction of the year.

Geoff Guest, auction and commercial director, said: "Our first auction at Liverpool Town Hall generated a lot of interest which led to very competition bidding throughout the afternoon. The auction environment can prove incredibly fruitful for the right property and the opportunity to sell an attractive property well above guide price can easily arise in a room full of eager bidders. With over 60% of properties sold so far, and more deals underway post-auction, it's been a great start to 2012 for Venmores."

A two-bed terraced cottage in Woolton Village, south Liverpool, attracted 75 viewings pre-auction and went on to sell for £93,500, well over its £65,000 guide price.

A two-bed semi-detached house in Bromborough, Wirral sold for £80,000, £15,000 over the guide price via a phone bidder. A two-bed end terrace in St Helens sold for £12,000 above its guide price of £35,000.
