Venmore auction raises £1.2m

The Liverpool-based auctioneers said it sold 60% of the 47 lots available at its last sale held at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool One.

Venmore said ten properties were sold prior to the event including lot 11, the Stables Bar in Garston, which sold above its a guide price of £140,000-£160,000.

Venmore added that lot 9, a three-bed terrace property in Halewood, sold for £10,000 over its original guide price of £60,000-£70,000.

Nick Ball, head of auctions, said: "We had a packed out auction room at the Hilton this month, and there are still some opportunities to secure some great properties including Lot 38, a prime city centre property located on Sir Thomas Street. The property, which has a potential income of £30,000 pa, offers 2,100 sq ft of open plan space at a guide price of £200,000.

"We are still expecting offers and it is definitely receiving a huge deal of interest from investors who are keen to get a bargain."

The auction was held on 18 May and was being filmed for BBC's Homes Under the Hammer, which uncovers the tricks of the property auction trade, for the second time.

The BBC previously filmed a Venmore auction last November. Over 300 people attended the auction last Wednesday.

Venmore will be holding its next auction on Wednesday 20 July at 1pm at the same venue.
