UU tenders for Preston wastewater upgrade

United Utilities has published a tender for an engineering and construction contract on outlets on the wastewater network in Preston.

United Utilities said that work will "resolve problems associated with 32 storm sewer overflows which are currently the subject of unsatisfactory discharges" from a number of outlets on the network.

There are five lots companies are being invited to apply for which includes:

  • Lot 1 – Penwortham
  • Lot 2 – Freckleton
  • Lot 3 – Lea Gate
  • Lot 4 – Watery Lane East
  • Lot 5 – Watery Lane West

The total value of the contract is £30.3m. Deadline for submitting tenders is 1pm on Monday 24 May.

In February, United Utilities awarded a separate £70m contract to a joint venture between Kier, Murphy and Interserve for the improvement of Preston's wastewater network, which will take two years to complete.
