UU picks Volker for Widnes work

The Preston base of Dutch engineering firm Volker Stevin has won a £4.5m contract with United Utilities to upgrade a wastewater treatment works in Widnes.

The contract involves delivering a new sludge plant, control centre building, making modifications to settlement tanks, roads and fencing.

Volker Stevin is a subsidiary of Volker Wesells, the publicly listed Dutch group which reported half-year profits in September 2010 of €18.6m on turnover of €1.9bn.
