Unite offloads former student halls to public-private JV

Benjamin Wilson Court, a residential development opportunity near Salford University, has been sold to public-private joint venture Salford Urban Vision Partnership for an undisclosed price.

The 0.7-acre site was formerly used for student accommodation and has been sold by Unite Group, the student housing specialist.

Salford Urban Vision Partnership is a joint venture between Salford City Council, Capita Symonds and Morrison Highway Maintenance.

Benjamin Wilson Court currently comprises a 10-storey residential building including 42 self-contained flats, providing a total of 143 bed spaces. The site also includes an area of hardstanding ground, currently used as a car park, and an area of soft landscaping.

John Broadbent, head of residential development at the Manchester office of Knight Frank, advising Unite, said: "We received a great deal of interest in this site from a number of parties, which goes to show the widespread and continuing commitment to regenerate large parts of Salford."
