Uni to spend up to £18m on Media City fit-out

Salford University has published a tender brief for the preparation of its 100,000 sq ft facility within the Media City UK development.

The university said it has set aside a budget of between £14m and £18m for the 100,000 sq ft fit-out, spread over four floors of a 12-storey building in Peel's scheme.

The contract includes standard commercial space fit-out plus installation of audio-visual equipment, specialist spaces including TV & radio studios and a high level of acoustic separation between rooms. There will also be a cafe, meeting rooms and offices.

The large budget includes the cost of procuring the specialist equipment needed for the media school, which is set to open in September 2011.

The deadline for completing the pre qualifying questionnaire is 6 May. You can register your interest via In-Tendhost

  • The university is holding an open day for people working in the creative industries to hear about the university's vision and plans for Media City UK on 26 April. Call Amy Willis on 0161 295 6271 to register.
