Uni plans new hall of residence

Chester University is planning to build a £10m student accommodation block at its campus off Parkgate Road on the outskirts of the city centre.

Tenders to build the 70,000 sq ft extension to the existing campus must be submitted by 8 May. Between five and eight bidders will be shortlisted for the 12-month contract.

The University intends to submit a planning application for the proposal to Cheshire West & Chester Council in the next couple of months. If approved, construction work would start during summer 2011, with the aim of completing the project in time for the beginning of the 2012/13 academic year.

Turner & Townsend and Hill Dickinson advise Chester University.
