Uni launches tender process for engineering block

Lancaster University is seeking to appoint architects and project consultants to design a £6.5m engineering building on its main campus.

The three-storey, 53,000 sq ft building will house mechanical labs, electrical labs, seminar rooms, project study spaces and private study areas.

The budget for the architectural services contract is £195,000. The location for the new facility has not yet been decided, and could be on the site of the current engineering block, which would be demolished. It could also be built on the site of the old sports centre – the new one opened this week.

The contract will begin in October and the building is scheduled to complete in June 2014. Applicants have until 31 August to register their interest.
