UCLan shares footage of social spaces build project

The University of Central Lancashire has released timelapse footage showing six months of construction progress at one of the sites that form part of its £8.15m social spaces project.

Work began in December to transform the university’s Foster, Greenbank and Harrington areas with new facilities, designed to improve the campus experience. The footage shows one of the facilities taking shape, with the Harrington and Greenbank buildings off Adelphi Street now linked by a new structure.

AHR is the architect. Preston-based Conlon Construction is delivering the scheme, which has been developed in conjunction with the UCLan Students’ Union.

Michael Ahern, UCLan’s chief operating officer, said: “This is just one element of our transformational plans but we’ve reached an exciting point in the masterplan project where we’re starting to see things really take shape. It’s fantastic to see the level of progress that’s been made in such a short space of time.”

The new spaces are due to open their doors during the 2017/18 academic year, and will be the first projects to be completed as part of UCLan’s £200m campus masterplan.
