Stratmor appointments

Two new recruits at Stratmor

Stratmor, the newly established strategic land off-shoot of Himor Group, has announced further appointments as it builds its management team.

Nigel McGurk has been appointed to head up land strategy. He currently acts as an advisor to Trafford Council as well as sitting on the national panel for the Design Council CABE and North West Design Review. He previously worked for Ainscough Strategic Land as managing director, but his position was made redundant in a management restructuring in summer 2011.

Sam Stafford, formerly a planning associate at Savills, joins Stratmor as head of planning. Stratmor is headed by Mike Riding, formerly land director at Northern Trust.

Manchester-based Stratmor, launched at the start of this year, is the sister company of Himor, a property company owned by Bill Ainscough, chairman and owner of Langtree, and his son Will, a former Healey & Baker investment manager and founder of WR Estates.

McGurk said: "I am pleased to be joining Mike and embarking on the exciting prospect of working together to create a new, national strategic land company. Between us, we have built up and led some of the country's most successful strategic land and regeneration businesses over the last 15 years. I believe my experience will complement Mike's and that of the rest of the team, to the long term benefit of Stratmor."

Riding said: "We are currently in detailed discussions on a number of major sites and anticipate that the first deals will be agreed in the next few months."
