Turley triumphs for Redrow on appeal

Planning and urban design consultancy Turley Associates, acting on behalf of Redrow Homes, has secured an outline planning permission for 135 new homes in Chorley, Lancashire.

The permission is for a mix of two and three bedroom mews housing and three and four bedroom detached homes at Lucas Lane, Whittle-le-Woods, to the north of Chorley. Permission was granted at appeal on 19 September.

Robin Buckley, senior planning manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: "The development will enable us to deliver high-quality family homes in Whittle-le-Woods as an extension to the adjacent popular scheme that Redrow developed in the 1990s.

"We are currently preparing detailed proposals that relate sensitively to the existing trees and natural features of the site and hope to commence building within 12 months."

Sam Ryan, a director in the Manchester office of Turley Associates, said: "Whittle-le-Woods is one of a number of settlements in Chorley that has been ear-marked for new homes to meet the housing requirements of the borough. This is an important appeal decision that will also see much needed affordable housing provided in the local area."

Over the past 12 months Redrow Homes working with Turley Associates has secured planning permission at appeal for 96 homes at Whitehills close to Blackpool, and consent for the first phase of 500 new homes at Summerhill Park in the Broadgreen district of Liverpool.
