Trio of Hattersley deals for Maple Grove

Maple Grove Developments, part of the Eric Wright Group, has secured lettings to Home Bargains. Greggs and Card Factory at its £13m retail development in Hattersley, Tameside.

Home Bargains is the largest deal, accounting for 15,000 sq ft, with bakery chain Greggs signing for 1,000 sq ft and Card Factory 1,250 sq ft.

Hattersley Retail Park secured reserved matters approval in July 2018 and is to be anchored by a 19,310 sq ft Lidl store. Costa has signed for a 1,800 sq ft drive-thru unit. The latest deals mean that three units remain, of 1,720 sq ft, 3,200 sq ft and 6,900 sq ft.

The district centre has been designed by Yorkshire architect Bowman Riley. Existing structures on the site will be demolished ahead of construction.

Andrew Dewhurst, development director at Maple Grove Developments, said: “Our ability to bring national retailers to Hattersley Retail Park underlines the scheme’s strengths. Being located within an area of housing growth means the park can serve the new and existing local residents as well as  providing crucial employment opportunities for this area of Greater Manchester.

“We remain absolutely committed to this site and are looking to start construction in the summer with a view to stores being open for trading by Christmas 2020.”

Jon Brady at Brady’s, joint agents for the scheme with Reid Rose Gregory, added: “Fronting the very busy A560 Stockport Road at the end of the M67 means that the park benefits from a huge amount of passing trade. Tesco Extra, Premier Inn and McDonalds are already established in this locality and Hattersley Retail Park will further add to the offer here.”

You have to be having a laugh! Have your research team done a study on the traffic and congestion in the area? I for one wouldnt make the journey to have to sit for 30 minutes plus on the approach to the proposed site!

So along with the extra cars that the new Godley Green housing estate just down the road will generate we have this to totally gridlock the area at rush hour

The traffic now is an absolute nightmare and you want to bring more people here get a grip and sort the road system out first and if the current system cant handle it then DONT build it the traffic at that junction at peak times in unbelievable now not to mention the A57 and surrounding roads like ashworth lane towards broadbottom it will cause total chaos. I am all for creating jobs but this is just a step to far for the estate in my opinion I would sooner have more houses than a retail park at least it will only add a little more traffic

Who got the back handed envelope for this one then? No care at all for people already living in the area who it will dramatically effect doesn’t matter though when all the people who okay it live miles away in big posh houses go build somewhere else like Hyde which is currently dying

About time 30plus years I’ve lived here and nowhere decent to shop having to travel all over the place should have been done years ago

But what about the extra traffic?
I used to regularly drive out of Glossop to visit different areas out of Glossop to di a bit of shopping i.e. Denton, Stockport and Oldam but getting stuck on the M67 on my way home has put me off going out that way so very rarely go over that direction.
I will be very surprised if it successfully.

I think that will be good for us living on here for over 20 yrs as for the traffic it is always been like that cause it is a cut though, if everyone stayed in the right lane when coming off the motorway it wouldn’t as bad , people say about it being bad but 10 to a penny they will call there when it is finished, just like they said about Tesco people who put there name down for it not to be built, we get people from every where coming to it .

How has this got Approved? Probably because it is in accordance with the adopted development plan. It amazes me the amount of commentators on this site who have no understanding of the UK planning system (a plan led approach) and seem to think individuals decide whether to grant planning permission or not on a personal whim.

Oh great another unimaginative retail park that will make local residence life a misery with the extra traffic and congestion.. I can’t wait! More litter to be strewn along the roadsides as we already get from McDonald’s along with more traffic fumes… I can really see why people will be attracted to a polluted, littered and gridlock area. Just fantastic news and the design so in keeping with the local areas conservation status.. Well done to all involved
