Trio invite NW councils to share low carbon ideas

Local authorities from across the North West are being urged to attend an event later this month at Manchester Town Hall to discover more about funding practical solutions for tackling climate change.

The dedicated conference on Thursday 19 November 2009 is being jointly organised by Envirolink Northwest and Manchester City Council and funded by CLASP, the North West's Climate Change Local Area Support Programme.

Representatives from Manchester City Council will offer an overview of the Manchester Climate Change Action Plan, setting out how the city intends to reduce its carbon emissions by 41% by 2020 from 2005 levels. The city council will also outline activities completed to reduce operational carbon emissions and plans for the future.

One-to-one sessions can be pre-booked with CLASP, Envirolink Northwest and other contributors CENEX and Salix Finance.

Envirolink Northwest and CLASP will be advising officers and councillors on the support available for local authorities aiming to reduce their carbon emissions by giving advice on the funding and support available.
