Trafford takes interim space at Quay West

Peel has let 41,721 sq ft of offices at Quay West to Trafford Council for 18 months while Trafford Town hall is redeveloped.

The council's Town Hall 650 staff will be based in Quay West from summer 2011. The council said Quay West was chosen after 'a rigorous evaluation process and provides the best value for the council'.

Cllr Matt Colledge, leader of the council, said: "Quay West is the perfect fit for the council's requirements during the redevelopment due to its proximity to the current Town Hall and the quality and flexibility of the office space. Our temporary office move will signal the start of transforming the way we work at the Council ensuring we work in the most efficient and effective way possible and deliver the best value for money for Trafford taxpayers."

Trafford Town Hall is being redeveloped in a bid to save the council £5m over 25 years to maintain all of its administrative buildings. The number of local authority administrative buildings will be reduced from six to one.
